Uganda, Rubirizi

In November 2020, we met John Mubangizi at his cooperative in Rubirizi. The location was still under construction at the time, but his plans for the region were already clearly visible. After years of working internationally, he chose to return to his native region to build a cooperative. With Rwandaro, he brought together 1,615 coffee farmers from the surrounding area under one organization. The name 'Rwandaro' roughly translates to 'growing together'. Since 2021, we have been sourcing, among others, the Uganda, Rubirizi – natural.

In unwashed (natural) processing , the whole coffee cherries are dried before the bean is removed from the husk. This method allows the bean to remain in contact with the sweet pulp for a longer period, which often results in sweet, fruity aromas , such as peach and jasmine, which you will find in this coffee.
